Town Halls

What is a Town Hall

Built for Zero Town Halls are interactive, community-centered calls where local teams share what’s working, unpack what’s changing, and learn alongside peers across the network. Each session is facilitated by the Built for Zero team and often features guest partners who bring practical tools, policy context, and real-world examples.

You can expect a mix of short framing remarks, peer learning, breakout discussions, and time for questions. If you can’t join live, recordings are posted here so you can watch on your schedule and bring ideas back to your team.

Showing and Telling: The Power of Visual Storytelling

🗓️ Tuesday, April 28
🕐 10–11:30 a.m. PT / 1–2:30 p.m. ET

Q: Can we reduce homelessness?
A: I’ll believe it when I see it.

Polling shows that a supermajority of voters (84%) believe homelessness can be radically reduced. But 1 in 2 say that to feel confident progress is happening, they need to see it with their own eyes.

Across the country, communities are working to reduce homelessness. The challenge is making that progress visible. As communicators, we need to “show and tell” and leverage the power of visual storytelling to make an invisible story visible.

Join us for a town hall to explore new public opinion research and walk away with practical ways to use visual storytelling to make progress clear, credible, and impossible to ignore.

THIS TOWN HALL IS FOR YOU IF:

  1. You’re a data person and find yourself wondering, “What does the public think about the state of homelessness?”
  2. You’re a communications person who wants practical pointers for how to tell a sticky story about how your city/town is radically reducing street homelessness
  3. You’re an implementation person who regularly gets out in the community alongside outreach teams or otherwise — bonus points if you’re handy with an smart phone!
